A New Space for Healing: Canto Integrative Psychiatry Expands to a Group Studio in Chapel Hill

A New Space for Healing: Canto Integrative Psychiatry Expands to a Group Studio Location in Chapel Hill!

Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, group therapy, couples work, and professional trainings — all under one roof.

When I opened Canto Integrative Psychiatry, I had a vision: to offer psychiatric care that doesn't just manage symptoms, but genuinely transforms lives. That meant not only providing exceptional one-on-one ketamine therapy and medication management services, but creating a container spacious enough to hold community — the kind of healing that happens in circles, in pairs, in shared breath and shared silence.

That vision now has walls, floors, and windows that let in the light.

I'm thrilled to announce that Canto Integrative Psychiatry has opened a dedicated group studio space at 121 S. Estes Drive in Chapel Hill, NC — and it is beautiful.

From Construction Zone to Healing Space

The photos tell the story better than words. What was once a gutted, abandonded commercial space — the exposed spaghetti of ductwork, scattered paint cans, IKEA cabinets waiting to be assembled — has become something genuinely special. Floating bamboo hardwood floors, ADA accessible on-suite bath, kitchenette, and a private treatment/consult space lends itself to flexibility and customization.

This transformation didn't happen by accident. Every detail was chosen intentionally, in service of the people who will enter this space in their most vulnerable and courageous moments.

After renovation - the space is fully ADA accessible with a large, flexible, open studio space, kitchenette, private en-suite bath, and private consult/individual treatment office.

Our studio space comfortably accommodates 18 students for yoga, 10 participants (plus 3 facilitators) for group KAP, and is fully equipped with furnishings for up to 12 for trainings/potlucks/community events.

What the New Studio Offers

The expanded Canto studio brings together a full continuum of healing modalities in one location, including:

Group Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (Group KAP)

Group KAP is one of the most powerful — and still underutilized — applications of ketamine therapy. In a group container, participants benefit not only from the medicine itself, but from the witnessed experience of others: the profound, wordless recognition that you are not alone in your suffering or your longing. Canto now has a dedicated space purpose-built for this work, with room and all the equipment needed for movement, rest, and the kind of preparation and integration that makes ketamine therapy genuinely transformative.

For those seeking ketamine therapy in Chapel Hill, Durham, or Raleigh, group KAP at Canto offers an accessible and deeply supported entry point into this work.

Couples Therapy and Couples Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy

Relationships hold our greatest wounds and our greatest potential for growth. The studio space supports couples therapy and couples KAP — a co-facilitated experience that invites partners into expanded states of connection, curiosity, and compassionate seeing. Whether navigating communication ruptures, attachment wounds, or a shared desire to go deeper, the Canto studio provides a container built for two.

Retreats, Workshops, and Community Events

The studio is designed with retreats in mind. From goddess archetype immersions to grief-focused healing retreats to yoga and somatic and sound-based workshops, Canto will be hosting transformational group and individual experiences for the Chapel Hill and greater Triangle community. These events honor the full spectrum of what it means to be human — including the parts we've been taught to leave at the door.

Professional Trainings, SUPPORT and KAP Certificate Programs

For clinicians seeking advanced training in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, Canto has developed a rigorous and experiential certificate program for therapists interested in offering ketamine assisted psychotherapy to their clients. The new studio space supports immersive, experiential training that prepares practitioners technically and relationally for this extraordinary clinical work.

The Full Arc of Care: Preparation Through Integration

What distinguishes Canto from a ketamine or Spravato clinic is our commitment to the full arc of care. Ketamine is not a stand-alone intervention — it is a doorway. What matters is who walks with you through it, and what you do on the other side.

At Canto, every patient relationship is built around:

  • Preparation: Thorough psychiatric evaluation, intention-setting, and psychoeducation so that the medicine can work at the level of personal meaning/purpose, not just neurobiology.

  • The Ketamine Experience: Whether in a one-on-one session or a supported group, sessions are held with on-site, licensed medical support and deep relational care.

  • Integration: The weeks and months after a ketamine experience are where the real transformation consolidates. Canto offers ongoing therapy, group integration circles, and community support to help patients metabolize insight into lasting change.

This full-spectrum approach is now housed in a single, cohesive space — from the warm, private therapy room to the expansive group studio where mats are laid out, to a sweet kitchenette where a group potluck or simple cup of tea can be enjoyed.
